Essay, once inhabited by the Gauls and the Romans, was also the site of a splendid medieval fort. It is now the home of rally-cross and go-karting in France.

Manoir de Couesme

Manoir de Couesme

14th c. Manor, elevated in 15th c ; this building was transformed into lodgings in the 16th c. Home of the Couesme family, this manor has kept a number of architectural features of these periods. Registered with the Historical Monuments in 2005.
